Welcome to MikeEmmett.com. I am a professional writer and editor based in Cary, N.C. I have more than 30 years of experience with writing fiction and non-fiction. My stories have been featured in many magazines and newspapers over the years. My passion for what I do continues to grow each and every day. I love to break new ground with each new project I embark upon.

Right now, my novel Damn It To Hell is in the hands of my publisher and will be released on Sept. 1, 2012. It should be in the bookstores by mid-October. My first novel, Demon, was published in 2011. My second, Eva - A Ghost Story, came out in 2012.  You can find out more by clicking on the link to your left. Two of the stories in Damn It To Hell are provided for free on this site: Jackson & Haight and Blood. Just click on the links to your left to read them online. I currently have also finished one non-fiction book and two other novels. The non-fiction book is called Dot-Con: A Legacy To The High Tech Life. As one of the pioneers of the World Wide Web, I now see the damage we have done to society with our High Tech Revolution that started in the 1970s. The story is told by my own personal experiences during the development of tecnology and downfall of society. I also am working on a sci-fi book called A Mystical Time that is romance/sci-fi tale about a time-traveling author who is trying to get his life together and goes back in time to solve some of history's greatest mysteries (Hoffa, JFK, The Bermuda Triangle, etc.). After I rewrite that novel this summer, I begin the rewrite on Destin, a romance-thriller about an immoral televangelist and his son, who gets wrapped up in the world of crack and crack whores. The journey leads to a death that police believe is a murder.

The Latest News: Summer's here and school is over. That means the rewrite for "A Mystical Time" is under way. So far, so good.

I am a member of the Horror Writers Association, The Society of Professional Journalists, Knights of Columbus, The Online News Association and The Kentucky Colonels Association. I have appeared on television and radio shows in Columbus, Ohio; Huntington, W. Va.; and a few other towns. I also have made appearances at several celebrity events during my career.

I just graduated from Wake Tech with an A.A.S. Degree in Web Technologies, and I stay involved in the IT/Web Technology industry. I start school at East Carolina University for my bachelor's degree in Internet Technology in the fall. I already hold a bachelor's degree from Marshall University in journalism. I was the first sports editor in Web history and a member of the pioneering team at The News & Observer in Raleigh, which was one of the first newspapers to put its content on the Internet in 1992-93. I've also helped build and manage more than 100 Web sites still around today, including Golf.com, NASCAR.com, AlabamaLive.com, TheWallStreetJournalOnline.com, LATimes.com, TorontoStar.com, TotalBaseball.com, FinalFour.net, Beer.com, Terra.com and more than 80 official universities' sports sites across the U.S.

After I am done in three years at ECU, I am going to the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill to gain my master's degree in Technology and Mass Communication. I had been accepted for that this fall, but with the way technology changes so fast I figured I should get the IT degree out of the way first.

If you have any questions about me or my work, feel free to drop me a line at me@mikeemmett.com. I get a lot of e-mails but always try to make time to answer each and every one.

Best,

Mike
